YOUTH PROGRAMS
Can you say FUN, FAITH, and FRIENDSHIP really quick? Well those words
spell out the essence of the Sunday Night Basement Youth Fellowship at Central
United Methodist Church where young people of junior and senior high school age
come together to deal with the issues facing their young lives, an exploration
of faith, some BIG TIME FUN, the building of Christian friendships, and
opportunities to take their faith into real world situation such as the Atlantic
City Rescue Mission and ACUP's Saturday feeding program.
In the summer months we connect with area Methodist young people on the beach in
Ocean City for some intense volleyball plus deep reaching devotions! In
the fall and winter we hit the roller skating floors for fast moving fun that
only stops for those special serious ... well, sometimes sort of serious ... ok,
we have fun .... times to go into God's Word. That's right, our youth have
discovered that believing in Jesus Christ does not require a sour face ... these
kids celebrate their faith and every young person is invited to visit us in the
basement Sunday evenings at 6:30pm. But always e-mail
first (once we know you we contact you directly) because sometimes we hit the
road for Christian Rock concerts or to visit other churches that are having
programs. After all, we United Methodists are a connectional church and
these kids connect with other Methodist young people a lot better than some
adults do.
Oh, did we mention ... there will be weekend get-aways, a 30 hour famine program
that raises money for those in need but also ends up with a special prize
usually involving our Assistant Pastor. And, visits to Christian radio
programs and the development of our own on-the-air youth project (that's for
RADIO) ... these young people will become mini-celebrities! Plus in
the Spring ... CREATION (the ultimate Christian Music Party), MISSION TRIPS, and
more!
